Director of Research, Development and Extension

Kirsten is a soil biogeochemist with skills in dryland agricultural systems. She has been the Director of Research, Development and Education at Carbon Sync since June 2024. Kirsten is a highly collaborative scientist with well-developed communication and problem-solving skills and experience working closely with diverse stakeholders to undertake industry-applicable research projects. A Western Australian by birth, she completed her PhD in plant and soil science at Western Sydney University and Post-doctoral fellowships at The University of Arizona, Washington State University and The University of Aberdeen.

Kirsten has an excellent understanding of experimental design, data analysis and statistical modelling, with specific skills in the use of spectroscopic techniques to augment traditional analyses. She is a detail-oriented and hard-working professional successful in communicating science to farmers, government agencies, academics, industry stakeholders, indigenous land managers and the public. Kirsten is a certified trainer and assessor with 15 years of program development and teaching experience, vastly qualified to develop and deliver teaching and extension programs.
