Laying the Groundwork: First Cuppa to First Core

  • 1. You Start With A Chat.

    Carl Smith, our BDM, will come out to your place (or jump on the phone) to talk through what a functional farming project might look like for you. No pressure — just a conversation.

  • 2. You Run The Numbers

    If it feels worth exploring, you commission a custom Cost-Benefit Report. You bring the deep knowledge of your land, we bring the big-picture thinking — and together we lay out what’s possible.

  • 3. You sit down with Carl again

    About two weeks later, we bring the report to the table. In person. Over a cuppa. We talk through the results, what they mean for your farm, and whether the project feels like the right fit. If it all stacks up for you, we formalise the partnership.

  • 4. The science kicks in

    If you’re in, we’re in. Kirsten — our soil scientist (aka Dr of Dirt) — joins you on-farm to sketch your Land Management Strategy. A practical, paddock-informed living plan that reflects your farm and your future. A future you co-designed with us.

  • 5. We map, stratify, and sample

    Kirsten and Kwan Yu, our GIS technician, design a smart, dryland-specific sampling plan — no shortcuts, all rigour. Then we hit the ground and take your baseline soil samples properly. This is the foundation your project will stand on.

  • 6. Your Project Is Declared

    About 2–3 months after registration, your project is live. That’s day one of a long-term shift: toward farming that holds together, delivers value, and rewards the work your system’s already doing.

It gives you a clear picture of what a project could mean for your farm — in dollars, in soil and landscape function, and in the kind of future you’re building.

The Land Management Strategy captures the decisions you’ve made — together with us — about how to build carbon, resilience, and productivity into your farm over time.

It’s not a document for the shelf. It’s a living, working plan for the land.

The Project Stratification & Soil Sampling Plan shows how your landscape functions and how we’ll track change.

Designed for dryland conditions, it draws on soil, climate, and management data to divide your farm into meaningful zones and guide efficient, credible carbon measurement.
